OK, suggestions for a vessel class name? And is the pic I used on Group Spaces workable? I just picked it out of a hat online.
Some thoughts I had:
-Voyager class (in honor of the journeys of the ship that made this tech possible)
-Outrider class (because we'll be going places never gone before, and I like the word)
-Vortex class (cuz a slipstream looks a bit like a vortex)
-Mercury class (cuz its crazy fast)
-Quicksilver class (cuz its fast, and I'm also a big comic book nerd)
Anyone else have any ideas?

LOL! I announced our game on the aqsgadmin list and we got an interested player. When we decide where to sim, we'll have one more.
That brings our head count up to 9, in theory.
Do you folks want to try out Group Spaces for a mailing list? Or stick with something more familiar? Group Spaces doesn't have an archive for the e-mails yet (only bulletins), but it will. I don't know how many of you might want that at the outset or if e-mail will be enough.
Our options are:
-Join the Thunder Fleet mailing list and sim on a joint list, seeing posts from other ships as well (more reading, more activity, more fun)
-Our own Yahoo Group (more or less reliable)
-Our own Google Group (reliable, some ability to add more detail to the game on the group site)
-Our own Groupspaces Group (lots of game info able to be added to the group site, but service is still adding features)

One more suggestion on class names, to add to the sci-fi geekery factor and in keeping with the cutting edge science aspect of the ship's backstory; Eureka class
Might be too cheesey, but otoh, perhaps just cheesey enough?

As an experimental Vessel being used for exploration I think the name should reflect that. My suggestions are:
1. USS Event Horizon (For the Experimental Drive system that will power her)
2. USS Discovery (For Exploration)
3. USS Lewis and Clark (Also for Exploration)

I might be rehashing my test pilot character because he makes sense to use. Not sure yet though.
If you folks want to write a bio for your characters and post them on the site, it's all wiki so you can just jump in and do it yourself once you are signed up to the site. If you want, you can also send it to me, and I can post it for you.

Up to you, I think Jules was interested in Medical also, and with David going paramedic that would be three medical types.
We don't have a dedicated security chief but we do have a tactical officer. I should probably drag him on to this list to help discuss things.

That's a fuzzy area as far as I can tell. I think tactical is the department and security can be a sub-position of that department, or split up as the CO decides is appropriate. Could have a small marine squad onboard too for emergencies. Lots of options.
