I have been updating the Esperanza site on and off all day.

-Updated the vessel page
-Updated roster with Reserved positions
-Added a page describing some alternate character positions
-Added a template for logging new species we encounter or play.  I'll add one for character bios, and new planets.
-Added/updated a page about the Slipstream capabilities

All these pages are done with the Wiki, so anyone can change them if we come up with new stuff or people who want to update their own biographies, etc.

Even if we sim on a joint list or other service, this site is making for a great way to host and edit game info.  Everything I put up there is subject to change if we want it to, I'm just laying in some placeholder info. Feel free to help co-create this thang.

Not a problem, we'll certainly be encountering new life forms, I would bet.  Done and done.

I'm assuming rank will break down as follows to start.

Captain for meself
Commander for XO
Lt Commander for designated Second Officer (aside for other assignments)
Lt for department heads to start

BTW  Are we sticking with Esperanza as the ships name, or did we manage to choose an alternate?

call me "Fleet Admiral" LOL

From the perspective of evolution, the great questions of life have hopeless answers. A person is a bunch of chemicals that by chance come together for a period of time and then will fall apart again at some time. There is no greater meaning to life. It, more or less, leaves out the possibility of a soul or spirit and life continuing after the death of the body.

For adding a bio or adding your character name to the roster:

-If you visit the site, you should see a tab at the top that reads "wiki instructions", that should have what you need to know there. Just make a new page for your bio.  I haven't made a default template yet.
-If you are editing an existing page (which you should all be able to do), such as to add your character to the roster, you just scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on "edit this page".  After that it's like a word document.

If it gives you any flack, let me know, I can get it squared for you.

Probably.

Fine by me, several unanswered question tho:

1) This list or a new one? (we can use the group spaces one if you want, just don't post from their site)
2) Did everyone pick a spot, and which character they are playing?
3) Were we doing the ship theft plot or just rocking with whatever our CO throws at us?

Let's party.

Scratch all that about joining, they don't have an invite feature, so I just added the folks who hadn't been added yet.  We're all good on that list, ad even if we don't want to use it, at least everyone is a member and can access and edit the site.

Feature reminders:

-There's a forum where we can add data about the ship and things we encounter.

-You can add you own wiki pages for things like a bio on your character, new races we encounter, new planets, etc.

-Please post through from your own e-mail account for now.  The CO or admins can use the site to do a newsletter type post to all members, but it will come through as a newsletter format, with graphics, oddball formatting, etc, and as such would get pretty cumbersome to use as a regular way to post.  Until they change that, I would suggest we just post from our e-mail accounts.

-Our Captain is apparently named Captain Ferdinand VonRichthofen.  Those wishing to begin the game in the brig or airlock should address him as Cap'n Freddie Vee, Cap'n Richie Poo, Mien Baron, or Snookums.

Let's launch a ship!

We can start using the GS list any time, if that's the desire.  Just send your e-mails to

Just have to be signed up on the site for it to go through.  So far only about half of us are, so the rest of ya might want to hop over and do that. As yet Group Spaces does not save messages on its site sent from your e-mail service (tho they will in the near future), so you might miss something if we start without ya.  I think I can send invites to folks not yet signed up, I will get to that shortly today.

The site addy again is:

Hop on over and join up if you haven't!  The crew list is wiki-based, so you should see the ability to edit the page at the very bottom, you can claim your position (or make a new one) for yourself, or you can just tell me who/what you are playing and I can add ya.  Whatever works.

To answer your questions;
1. I suggest we make a new posting list, either here or from the Esperanza website
2.  Pretty sure we have most of the initial players we need.
3. What "Ship theft plot" are you talking about.  As this is an experimental vessel I figured a shakedown cruise would be in order.  Plenty of action can happen just getting out of the starting gate.
