Re: [dawahare-family] Random thought - Daisy and your pet birds

Just a little brevity for this thread.
Last night a little Thrasher (bird) snuck in the house when I let Daisy
out. Matthew and I were trying to guide it back out through the open door
(it was flying all over the dining room), when Daisy casually walks in,
tracks the birds flight pattern and watched it land to rest. CHOMP! Game
over. She put the bird down and just walked out (really, she did) as if to
say, ‘no problem, I got this’. There was no suffering and the bird has
been returned to the food chain. Matthew and I were shocked. So, lock up
your pet birds at Thanksgiving (pigs are safe….).

once. Doing just what Sity taught us, i closed the door and went after
it with a broom. No luck. So i let the cat in, went out and closed the
door. I heard a few thumps - where the cat went for it, missed, and hit
the wall - and then silence. I opened the door, and the cat had done its
work.

Nope. Vegetable stock or bullion works just as well though, I have used it for many chicken stock/broth substitutions, salty etc. Knorr makes a great vegetable bullion.

Syrian rice requires chicken broth to make, so be careful if you eat it. It's just rice with cinnamon without the chicken broth.

The reason the chicken broth is required is for the fat/oil/salt that it provides more than chicken flavor, I do not remember it tasting particularly like chicken. However I thought there was butter in the recipe as well. If you use an alternative fat/oil/salt, like vegetable broth/bullion I am guessing only the most discerning palette would be able to tell. Having it is not a huge deal though, just a suggestion.
