Hey all,

Great to meet you today! Glad to see this group is happening and thinking about how to make Davis thrive.

Here is the proposal for connecting the Path through the square that I mentioned, which the Somerville Bike Committee and friends produced in 2022. Officially, the city hasn't adopted this and is making on protected bike lanes on Highland Ave bridging the gap, but if you all agree a solution like this would make more sense, maybe it's sometime the group can push.

Happy to also dig up the Davis Square neighborhood plan from 2019 if any of you haven't seen it, including the four-way intersection solution!

Cheers,
Alex

Hi all,

Here's the flyer for next week's meeting. I'm going to put it up tomorrow.
Let me know if you want to help!

Jack, can we use your color copier?

Hi again!

Here is the Davis Square Neighborhood Plan from 2019:

And here is the 4-way intersection proposal in it, which I really like:

Alex,

Great to bring this docs back into view! I was so thrilled when I saw the draft 2019 plan, and I keep hoping to hear that City Staff have an updated version to consider. Last I heard they were working on it, calling it a “Small Area Plan” now.

Hey Jeff, as far as I know the city left the 2019 neighborhood plan on the table and last year put out the scaled back commercial area plan. https://voice.somervillema.gov/davis-square

I wish the neighborhood plan had  been updated, too, because it had a lot of proposals I thought made sense for both safe street redesign and housing/commercial.

Maybe if folks on this Council get fired up, the City will be open to reconsidering. :-)
