Hi Bee Collective!
I don't know what's going on, but:
We got back after a weekend away to buzzing. I've got an interior windowsill full of dead bees trapped behind solid shutters, a scattered dozen dead on the floor in that room and an adjacent room, and the live ones get into a skylight and caught in spiderwebs.
I don't see bees outside at the moment. A few bees came in last year to the same room, but they all got caught up in the skylight. (Thanks Lyle and Djina!) This is exponentially worse, and I don't have a sense for whether this is a swarm that chose wrong or part of an ongoing problem that's going to escalate.
My questions: how do I remove the bulk of the dead ones, how do I identify why/how they're coming in (what is attractive about my wall?), what are the "tells" for whether we've got a bigger problem, and how do I avoid this happening next year and the years beyond?
Thanks,
Gretl Davis
