Hello, my name is Peter and I am having issues in calibrating a DVXplorer mini

I am having a problem when trying to perform calibration the calibration module is not detecting any patterns at all. I am following the instructions exactly on the calibration tutorial here provided by iniVation and yet the software is not able to detect any patterns from the accumulator frames that my camera is generating.

My system is Ubuntu 20.04 and I have repeated the calibration tutorial instructions 3 times with all 3 of the standard grids provided (chessboard, circles grid, and asymmetrical circles grid) using the "Use Default Pattern" configuration.

As recommended at the bottom of the tutorial, I changed my Event Contribution value to 0.05 in the Accumulator settings and still not getting any results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Peter,

It's really strange to hear that happening. It should normally be possible to detect the pattern if you used the correct settings. I have 2 suggestions
1. Please update your DV. In the last release we fixed a bug related to DVXplorer mini
2. Could you please attach a screenshot of the Accumulated frame that you feed into the calibration module? Ideally one with visible calibration pattern

Thanks!

Adam

My DV is the latest release (1.4.6-1~focal). I'm using two DVXplorer Mini cameras which both have the following firmware info:

Here is a screengrab of the accumulator during the calibration process:

I'm sure it's entirely possible the settings I'm using somewhere are entirely wrong, but I'm just following the tutorial exactly as described and not getting any results. The calibration is unable to detect even a single pattern.

Hi Peter,

It looks like the focus of the lens of your camera is not the best. Please try the following:
  1. Print Siemens Star pattern on paper (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siemens_star)

  2. The center of the calibration pattern will appear blurred on the image

  3. By rotating the lens in the camera try to make the blurred circle in the middle of the image as small as possible lock the lens by rotating the counter nut

Please let me know if it helps

Adam
