In case you didn’t see it elsewhere, here’s an announcement for the UC open source contributors &
maintainers virtual meetup (i.e. writing code in a language like R or python with an open license, or you’re thinking about an open license). The meetings from this group on our campus have been really welcoming to new folks, so if you’re a beginner, definitely consider coming. More details below.

Subject: [opensource-announce] ICYMI: join us for a virtual OSS meetup!
Join us on July 10th at noon for the inaugural UC open source contributors &
maintainers virtual meetup, bringing together the vibrant open source
community across all University of California campuses! Whether you’re a
seasoned maintainer with years of experience or just thinking about starting
your open source journey, this collaborative space is designed for learning,
sharing, and connecting with fellow UC community members who are passionate
about open source software. We’ll exchange insights, discuss challenges and
successes, discover new projects, and build meaningful connections with peers
from across the UC system. This is the first of three annual meetups where
we’ll celebrate the incredible open source work happening throughout our
universities and support each other in growing as contributors and
maintainers. All experience levels are welcome—from curious beginners to
project leads—as we believe the best learning happens when diverse
perspectives come together.
Meeting link and all details on our events page!
Cheers,
