Dear sworn foes or unwitting pawns of evil,
You are all cordially invited to "Odd Man Out", a treasure hunt which will
begin at noon on Saturday, October 23rd, in San Francisco's Tenderloin. I've
wanted for a while to write a hunt set in this fascinating and neglected
neighborhood, and this year the stars aligned. Bear with me, because I
didn't leave as much out as I should. This event will be complex, combining
puzzles, on-the-spot sleuthing and speed. You'll experience the Tenderloin's
endlessly interesting streets, learn some of its little-known history and
culture, and get a glimpse of its darkest arcane secrets.
Register by replying to this email address with your team name and size and
at least one email address per team at which I can reach you if necessary.
Teams may be of any size, although around 4 to 6 is best. If you don't have
a team, register anyway and we'll fix you up. Registration is limited to
about 75 people and spaces are going fast, so don't delay.
The cost is $2 per person to cover printing. You can pay on line after I
confirm your registration or at the event.
Hope to see you on the 23rd!
Ominously yours,
--

P.S.: This is the last mass mail I'll send about this event, and who knows
whether or when inspiration will strike again. But if you'd rather not get
email from me about this sort of thing, please just let me know.
