That’s right, the eminent doctor of medical science is all in with the Lysol White House and is against Science!
This is the confusing moment we find ourselves in. The very phrase, “science says,” invoked over and over by our politicians and public health officials, implies consistency, and it implies that science races ahead of the rest of us and has already answered the questions we now have and already solved the problem we only just realized we had. It implies that science speaks in a univocal way, as though it were a single person. Univocality assumes there is a reasoned consensus, overwhelming agreement, and “the science is settled.”
This is classic TOSFOS Make-Your-Head-Spin PILPUL.
The moment we find ourselves in is not at all “confusing.”

It is interesting that the Neo-Con Tikvah Right is all in a tizzy over Post-Modernism and Indeterminacy of Meaning – except when it comes to Science:
Many educated people claim to not be “religious,” saying instead that they put their “belief” in science, and speak as though science replaces religion, which represents humanity’s mythic and irrational need for certainty. But under psychological stress, the quasi-religiosity of so much of that scientific belief emerges. When we say (as some do) that we are science-trusting, and act as though “science says” some univocal truth, which can be revealed, on demand, we show that we are really only transferring the quest for certainty from religion to science.
The article keeps the PILPUL nonsense going, attacking Science and various public officials and health leaders.
It is incoherent, but makes the larger point: Alana Newhouse and her Tikvah Tablet are continuing to repeat the Lysol Trump talking points in order to express solidarity with the White House.

Phillips and Owens want us to know that George Floyd is not a victim. He is not a martyr. He is not even human. He is a false symbol of the Left and of the Social Justice Movement!
In fact, Phillips, who sniffs out any and all forms of Anti-Semitism from the Left, asserts that “Victim Culture” is against Jewish moral values:
That's because victims are given a moral free pass for whatever they do. So, the rioters' callous indifference towards their own victims has been denied, while those condemning the riots are denounced.
Grossly slandering all white people as innately racist, yet Antifa or BLM activists can never acknowledge their own racism against white people. That's because victim culture derives from the Marxist dogma that everything is defined by power relationships. So, racism isn't prejudice but only prejudice with power.
The powerless can never be guilty of bad things. Black people are defined as powerless victims of white people. Hence, black people can never be racist.
This moral impunity is why so many groups want to be considered victims. The one group that victim culture refuses to accept as victims, however, is the Jews.
That's because identity politics ideologues share the anti-Semitic belief that the Jews are all-powerful because they control the banks, the media, the professions and so on.
So the Jews, the most persecuted people the history of the world, are excluded from the definition of a victim.
Worse still, there's a yet deeper connection between victim culture and anti-Semitism.
Victim culture draws upon the resentful belief that the Holocaust and the claim of anti-Semitism give Jews moral impunity that allows them to get away with bad deeds, such as controlling the world in their own interests regardless of others' needs.
In other words, this assumed Jewish moral impunity is actually no more than the paranoid fantasy of anti-Semites. Victim culture, by contrast, bestows impunity for things like rioting, looting and beating up innocent people.
Jilani’s Tikvah Tablet article is more of the same Lysol PILPUL garbage:
Unfortunately, the process of individuating has come under furious assault in recent years. More and more, elites in media and politics are encouraging us to think about ourselves as archetypes of groups rather than as individuals. Stereotyping about white people in particular is now not only accepted, but encouraged and seen as a political good. Every white person is expected to acknowledge that they have white privilege at all times, regardless of their class or personal background, and to affirm that it is impossible for there to be any situation in which nonwhites ever enjoy any advantages over whites. As I have written elsewhere, this is a problematic belief structure—not because it will usher in some kind of reverse Jim Crow that subjugates whites, but because it leads to a flattened image, effectively stigmatizing even the suggestion that whites might be disadvantaged or suffering. This blinkered view of race and privilege can be particularly harmful to whites in situations where many are underprivileged (for instance, the white suicide rate is many times higher than the Asian, black, or Latino suicide rate).
But equally problematic is the way some on the left talk about members of ethnic minority groups as if we are simply virtuous victims, cast adrift on a plank in an ocean of white supremacy over which we have no control. Basically everything in our lives is determined by the Leviathan of structural racism, a term that is both increasingly vague and ever more expansively used to explain every feature of the social conditions of America.

Gentrification explains why there are so many white young adults, both ordinary protesters and anarchist vandals, compared to African Americans in the videos we see of protests and riots in big cities across the United States, compared to images of urban riots in generations past. Thanks to rising rents, young white leftists and liberals have been displacing the nonwhite working class and poor, many of them social conservatives, in places like Brooklyn and Oakland and Austin. While the initial occasion of a protest may be the death of a member of a minority group in police custody, affluent young white leftists are more interested in symbolic violence against capitalism or patriarchy or whatever.

If they get arrested, the fortunate among them can count on being bailed out after phone calls to their indulgent liberal or moderate conservative parents, who live in expensive, nearly all-white urban and suburban neighborhoods and denounce racism and fascism on their Facebook pages.
It will take years for the American hub cities damaged by the riots, along with the pandemic and the lockdown, to recover, if they ever recover. The black poor and working class first had their urban industrial jobs taken away from them by corporate executives in the white overclass who offshored them to Mexico or China. Then they were replaced in their former urban neighborhoods by the hipster children of the white overclass. Now even their grievances like protests against horrific police brutality are stolen from them by their supposed allies in the white overclass and turned into an occasion for virtue-signaling or vandalism by the elite.
Many of today’s big city riot ninjas will look back in the future with pride on their nights of prancing around in black leotards and spraypainting “BLM” and “Fuck Trump” on downtown buildings. A decade from now, the most successful will have well-paying jobs, many of them in the politically progressive sectors like the universities and NGOs. The unlucky ones may still be working at Starbucks—perhaps at the very stores whose plate glass windows they once spray-painted or smashed.

So, let us once again applaud the diligent work of the great Alana Newhouse, who has fulfilled the great vision of her mentor Zalman Bernstein. She is a credit to Tikvah White Jewish Neo-Con Supremacy.
