Friends,
We begin this week’s newsletter with another installment of my endless series on the “American Sephardi Federation is Run by Ashkenazim.” In this episode we learn that Jason Guberman, ASF director and founder of HASBARAH group DIARNA, took the time to do an event with the racist fanatic Daniel Pipes. Clearly Pipes sees in DIARNA and the ASF a kindred spirit, as Guberman works on behalf of the Zionist cause to promote the claims of Jews against Arabs and Muslims. It is a marriage made in Ashkenazi heaven.
And then we have the case of the New Gulf HASBARAH Alliance and its rabbinic leader Yehuda Sarna. The Chief Rabbi has worked to appoint Rabbi Elie Abadie as their token Arab Jew in the region. It is an appointment that has been feted by the ASF, Lyn Julius, and the rest of the Self-Hating racist contingent. The appointment will work out quite smoothly, as Rabbi Abadie is very much in accord with the White Jewish Supremacy and will surely not make any waves.
Tikvah Tablet Alana Newhouse recently sent out a package of materials on Anti-Semitism focusing exclusively on Louis Farrakhan, the biggest danger to the Jewish people today. While the Killer of Malcolm X remains a wingnut wacko, Newhouse’s focus staunchly ignores Trumpworld Alt-Right Anti-Semitism and the actual terror it has created. The Zalman Bernstein machers are scared when it comes to saying anything negative about Trump.
And of course, one of those machers is Bari Weiss, who, since her resignation letter stunt, has re-emerged as a major player in Tikvah land. Like her BFF Newhouse, Weiss too wants us to know that Anti-Semitism remains a problem – but it is largely a problem from the Left and not the Right!
Keeping with the Bastard Children of Zalman Bernstein, we have another spot-on piece by Alt-Right macher Liel Leibovitz. This time he sets out to attack Science and praise the Haredi Jews. It is very much in keeping with the Tikvah Tablet plan to stick with the Trumpdeath Talking Points and thumb its nose at rationality.
Newhouse has also helped promote SY “writer” Esther Levy-Chehebar, who here gives us the poop about how the community is thriving during the Pandemic by making even more money! Her pusillanimously materialist article completely ignores Donald Trump’s triumphant return to Deal, but does give us a good deal of Bourekas and Haminados Sephardischkeit. Just leave the thinking to the Ashkenazim!
Rabbi Meir Soloveichik does the expected and praises the Trump-Kushner Golf HASBARAH. It is yet another victory lap for the White Jewish Supremacy.
Farah Stockman gives another in the long series of attempts to try and explain the Trump voter. Like many of us, she too is trying to understand what is wrong with them. Given how many of them came out to vote for him on election day, the question remains open.
Ben Smith takes a look at Trump Whisperer Mark Burnett and his role in unleashing Fascism on this country. As the Trump presidency ends, it will be interesting to see how the Poptrash Idiocracy media complex deals with his return to civilian life.
Manohla Dargis reviews the filmed version of David Byrne’s Broadway concert “American Utopia.” Since watching the Spike Lee-directed HBO movie, I have had many mixed feelings about it; remembering how much Talking Heads meant to me in my youth, and what a pompous bore Byrne has become as he transfers his Arty Downtown domination to more tony Uptown climes. He is the Mister Rogers of the demoralized intelligentsia.
I recently did a tribute to Stanley Crouch and noted there his connection to the reactionary Neo-Con Right. Though I still believe that Crouch’s Harold Cruse Jazz activism has its merits, Ishmael Reed begs to differ. His lengthy rant is both humorous and gives us a litany of Crouch’s bad behavior over the years.
We close with a brilliant piece by New York Times columnist Charles Blow on the pain of his brother’s death and how difficult the experience was as we continue to deal with the social distancing measures imposed by COVID. It is a deeply insightful piece, by turns heart-wrenchingly emotional and morally reflective. It reminds us of our humanity at a time when so much has been done by the powers in charge to try and strip us of that humanity.
