The opening paragraph of Bazelon’s article for Weiss displays both her ignorance of reality, as well as her PILPUL-addled brain:
Progressive America has been obsessing over the wrong case. For weeks, activists and commentators have been laser focused on the trial of Kyle Rittenhouse in Kenosha, insisting that it illustrated systemic racism when all the players were white and the verdict turned on the application of Wisconsin’s permissive self-defense law. In doing so, the public has largely ignored a gut-wrenching trial about this exact malady.
I am not an expert on the entire Progressive community, but I do not think that any of them have been ignoring the Arbery case.
As an exercise in seeing if Bazelon is right, I decided to Google the words “Ahmaud Arbery and Counterpunch,” and here are the first four items that popped up:

Indeed, noted Progressive Kareem Abdul Jabbar, speaking for many in the African-American community, was not at all surprised by the Rittenhouse verdict and asserted that it did not matter:

Indeed, The New York Times published an excellent piece describing the ways that the Hate America Lysol Paramilitaries have been inspired by the verdict:
White vigilante groups, some of them openly white supremacist, responded violently to unrest in Black communities in multiple cities in the late 1960s, often with the acquiescence or active support of local police. Photographs of armed Korean American business owners in Los Angeles defending their properties during the 1992 riots have been touchstones for Second Amendment advocates for years, and they were circulated again as social media memes after the Rittenhouse verdict.
In 2020, this strain of armed vigilantism was reactivated by the struggles of mostly Democratic state and local governments and law enforcement in responding to rioting and prolonged unrest in several major cities after Mr. Floyd’s death. And it was fanned by conservative media figures and Republican politicians, who encouraged their audiences and supporters to see the failure to preserve order as part and parcel of the Democratic agenda.
Maybe Bazelon is not aware of such things.
I am curious to understand what Weiss is up to, and what Bazelon thinks she is doing by acting the part of a useful idiot to the Tikvah Trump Straussians.
Perhaps it is just some window dressing that Weiss can point to when she is accused of being a racist who lives inside a hermetic echo-chamber policed by the Tikvah goons.
Or maybe it is just simply more Trolling the Libs obnoxiousness.
It makes me think of Rittenhouse himself, who on Monday decided to tell White Supremacist Snowflake Tucker Carlson that not only is he not a racist, but that he is a firm Black Lives Matter supporter!
The Gaslight of the racists, and I include Weiss and her pal Alana Newhouse in that category, continues and we should not be fooled by any of it. As we continue to follow their writings, what they choose to discuss and what they choose to ignore, it remains crystal clear which side they stand on.

$1,000 bail: When Darrell Brooks allegedly drove through that Christmas parade, he was out on $1,000 bond two days prior for allegedly running over the mother of his child. Milwaukee County District Attorney, John Chisholm, a progressive prosecutor, finally admitted that the bail was “inappropriately low.” Chisholm is part of a progressive prosecutor movement—in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Philadelphia and elsewhere—whose members came to power promising radical reforms and a gentler approach on crime. Rep. Rashida Tlaib actually wants to abolish federal prisons as she explained this week in a must-watch interview with Jonathan Swan of Axios.
“Caused by a SUV”: The Waukesha killings are quickly being memory-holed since the primary suspect, Darrell Brooks, doesn’t fit the proper narrative. Six people have died so far; one of them is an eight-year-old boy named Jackson Sparks. Many others are still in critical condition. The Washington Post is describing it as “the Waukesha tragedy caused by a SUV.” I wish I were kidding. In the meantime, it appears that Brooks was a fan of Hitler.

The Justice System working, pt. 1: Kyle Rittenhouse was found not guilty on all counts. Watching him talk during an interview afterward, I was struck by his calm demeanor, which was so at odds with the man the mainstream press tried to convince us he was. We were told he was a Trumper, but apparently he supported Andrew Yang. We were told he was a white supremacist, but he said he supports the BLM movement, just not violent rioting. Here’s Rittenhouse: “It's just amazing to see how much a prosecutor can take advantage of somebody. If they did this to me, imagine what they could have done to a person of color who doesn't maybe have the resources I do or isn't widely publicized, like my case.”
Andrew Yang should be proud of his supporters!

Gordis asks why WOKE has not come to Israel:

Where inflation goes after that depends on how much more our government continues to print or borrow to send people checks and expand social programs. This doesn’t seem likely to end soon. And if people believe that monetary policy will never return to controlling inflation, and taxes and spending will never come into line so the government can start to repay mounting debts, inflation spirals out of control.
The direct attack on Biden is limited to the current gas crisis:
The Biden administration, having just cancelled the Keystone pipeline, is now begging the Saudis and Russians to turn on the pumps, just as Richard Nixon pleaded with OPEC. The White House is accusing oil companies of colluding to raise prices. They will likely pressure other companies to limit price increases, as presidents from Kennedy to Ford did. This shouldn’t come as a surprise: Every past inflation has sparked a witch hunt for “speculators,” “hoarders,” “middlemen,” “price-gougers,” and other phantasms. Let’s hope the government doesn’t try price controls, as Nixon did, precipitating gas lines and shortages of everything.
When reading the article, it is not hard to see the fierce hatred of Biden and the love of Trump – and, of course, the execrable Hoover.
This, once again, puts the lie to Daniel Gordis and the nonsense of open discourse.
