Bill Maher Has Become a Very Big Problem for the Democrats
Once upon a time I watched Bill Maher.
Come to think of it, I suppose I also watched Dennis Miller as well.
We know that Miller became a Conservative wingnut loon after 9/11:

I was always intrigued to see him do his ultra-hip language games shtick in exchanges with the FOX News serial sex harasser Bill O’Reilly:

But I was honestly never sure if Bill-O and his idiot ditto-head audience of rabid kool-aid drinkers ever got Miller’s hipster comedy, even in its Republican iteration.
Less clear has been the gradual descent of Bill Maher, who has used and abused his strident New Atheist hatred and parlayed it into a full-blown reactionary racist discourse:

Maher vehemently attacks religion, yet still manages to hold a warm place in his heart for Zionism:
Maher hates religion, but seems – like his Jewish New Atheist pal Sam Harris – to hate Islam more than any other religion:

Excellent PILPUL there Mr. Harris!
Very impressive.
Like many politically-oriented comedians, Maher has ultimately been stymied by Trump and has flailed in many different directions.
While I stopped watching his HBO program regularly some time ago, I do try to keep up with some of his newsworthy nonsense, and was recently struck by his vehement defense of Joe Biden’s historic racism:

It does not seem to be an accident that FOX News highlighted the segment defending Biden.
The idea is to excuse Biden’s casual racism because it happened so long ago, and don’t we all have things in our past that we would do differently?
In spite of his no-vote against confirmation, I am not sure that attacking Anita Hill in a way that helped the Republicans put Clarence Thomas on the Supreme Court to replace Thurgood Marshall is something that any of us would have done, or that we should be excused for.
It is a controversy that has refused to die down – and for good reason:
Indeed, Trump would do well to run against Biden, as he can point to many of his many gaffes and foibles – including those repugnant Anita Hill-Clarence Thomas hearings – and come out looking pretty clean.
Nominating the establishment stooge Biden would be so typical of the Democrats, showing that they learned nothing from the Hillary debacle.
Given all this racial baggage, it was no surprise to see Maher come out swinging at Rashida Tlaib, as gleefully reported by the pro-Trump Algemenier:
Maher represents the confusion that continues to plague the Democratic Party at a time when unity against Trump is so sorely needed.
He has refused to take a firm stand for truth and justice at a time when our country is being decimated by the scourge of Alt-Right Trumpism and its authoritarian disregard of Democracy and the Rule of Law.
His arrogance and ignorance shameful, and his selective racism repugnant, Maher is a deeply compromised messenger whose prejudices may yet serve to help Trump win re-election.
