Friends,
When I first encountered Daniel Ross Goodman of Yeshivat Chovevei Torah I was not aware that he was a regular contributor to the Witherspoon Institute’s Public Discourse blogsite. I have discovered over time that there now exists a new entente between Ashkenazi Jews and Evangelical Christians that has served to undermine the Jewish tradition and bring Orthodox Jews closer to Christian ideals.
In my article on the new Shtetl Wars I take a look at polemics from Tablet Magazine’s Liel Leibovitz and Rabbi Nathan Slifkin. The Ashkenazim are very angry at each other and have no compunction when it comes to playing their conflicts out on the public stage.
The inimitable Alan Dershowitz once again lays out his case for Israel against the Left. Here he takes aim at Progressive Jewish critics of Israel and calls them out for not being Jewish.
While Dershowitz calls Progressive Jews not Jewish, Rabbi Chaim Amsellem represents Sephardim who are not Sephardic. Dershowitz and the HASBARAH crowd would love him! Amsellem’s move from SHAS to the Far Right Israel Beteinu party confirms much of what I have been saying about Sephardic degeneration and its alliance with the Israeli fascists.
Another Sephardi who is not Sephardic is Rabbi Nathan Lopes Cardozo who here promotes a militant Da’as Torah system where rabbis should come at us with knives between their teeth!
I was recently alerted by a devoted SHU reader to Tzvi Kilov’s repugnant article on Sephardim and Ashkenazim which represents a new low in Anti-Sephardi racism.
Cathryn Prince once again shows us how Ashkenazi the Jews of Color are.
I then take on the idiocy of The New York Times music critics and their role in the ongoing degradation of our culture in a discussion of Frank Ocean and Britney Spears.
Connected to this is the abysmal status of young women who have become more and more demeaned in the Hip-Hop culture that now permeates our civilization. Zoe Heller’s article is a very depressing but necessary intervention in this process.
We close with Robert Worth’s review of an English translation just published by Penguin Books of a 14th century work of Adab literature by the Arab writer Shihab al-Din al-Nuwayri. The learned Adab culture is part of the Religious Humanism of the Islamic world and the publication of this book in English is a major event that will allow us to better understand the complexity of Arab civilization.
