Hi There,

As a big fan of David’s work, I am hoping that you might be able to
help me get in touch with him to encourage him to enter the Freedom to
Create Prize, an international celebration of the power of art to
promote social justice, build the foundations for an open society and
inspire the human spirit. Last year, over 1,000 artists entered from
more than 80 countries.Previous judging panelists include experts from
the fields of human rights and the arts such as Geoffrey Robertson QC
and Daniel Barenboim. I would so love to see an entry from David!

I am a long time fan of David’s work – and cannot WAIT to see the
upcoming ‘Dirty Hands’. Buzzing off all of the cool reviews it’s got
so far.

The Prize consists of three categories: the Main Prize, open to
individuals or artistic groups in all creative fields; the Youth
Prize, open to artists under the age of 18; and the Imprisoned Artist
Prize, focusing on artists who are currently imprisoned for their
artwork. The total prize fund is US$ 125,000 which will be divided
between the winning artists and their nominated advocacy organisations
to further the cause their artwork has highlighted.

The winner of the 2009 Main Prize was Acclaimed Iranian filmmaker
Mohsen Makhmalbaf, with The Kumjing Storytellers coming in as first
runner up and Sheenkai Alam Stanikzai taking third place. The Youth
Prize winner was Poimboi Veeyah Koindhu, a group of former child
soldiers from Sierra Leone who use dance to heal themselves and seek
forgiveness from their communities. The Imprisoned Artist Prize went
to Lapiro de Mbanga, Cameroonian musician and social reform
campaigner.

You’ll find all the information I think you might need at www.freedomtocreate.con,
but of course, do feel free to be in touch if you have any questions.
You can find us on Facebook too. Any help you can offer in letting
David know about the prize, I’d be super grateful.

Fingers crossed!

All the best
