So for the last week or two myself & some other players have been cleaning up some planets that are from closed accounts.

However, one planet (a capital) I've been assaulting for a week or two & it's defenses are able to hit & destroy my ships. However, I'm unable to get a single hit on the planet. Every day the logs look like...

Assaulting Planet DeathtoKB (6382816): unsuccessful assault -- planet heavily defended
Assaulting Planet DeathtoKB (6382816): unsuccessful assault -- planet heavily defended
Assaulting Planet DeathtoKB (6382816): unsuccessful assault -- planet heavily defended
Assaulting Planet DeathtoKB (6382816): unsuccessful assault -- planet heavily defended
Assaulting Planet DeathtoKB (6382816): unsuccessful assault -- planet heavily defended

All my fleets are set to planetary assault... 3 or 4 fleets are even landed on the planet. Is this a bug or is it just something that will eventually get through?I can dig up the past turn reports if you like to get a more precise timeline. But I do know it's been like this for atleast 10+ days.

I just noticed that the planet doesn't even show itself as under attack.

Does fleet speed affect it?

Speed has to be under a certain threshold now ( less than 2 I believe), drive-by shootings no longer work.

If the speed is under 2, is there any difference in the attack probabilities or damage amounts related to speed? Seems like I remember you saying something about attack probabilities scaling up as speed reduced. Or is 2 just a threshold below which combat happens as normal?

This was directed at Dave as a general question about game mechanics. Not everything is about you, dklu. Especially my last post.

Mr. Pot, meet Mr. Kettle. Seriously, how presumptuous is it of you to get all up in my face and essentially call me a liar in a public game forum about a message that I could have just as easily posted in a private email to Dave? Rather, I asked a question of general interest to others who are playing the game and might want to better understand the mechanic of fleet speed as it relates to attack probabilities. I don't know what kind of A) insecure or B) narcissistic jerk you are, dklu, but you are the only player I've encountered in this game so far that has managed to break every single promise made and be a right jerk about it while doing so. I'd say if there was a leader board for untrustworthiness, you'd be atop that one for sure.

Since you are insecure enough to THINK this is about you and your recently lost planet, let me disabuse you of that fallacy. I am specifically referring to a post Dave made some months ago about the difference between Attack and Planetary Assault fleet dispositions. He mentioned that fleets will no longer attack above a speed of 2. I also thought I recalled something about attack probabilities being proportional to ship speed. In the case of the planet you seem to be sour-graping about, I had 2 fleets that had just been moved off the planet one turn before to try and shake up the broken logic about stationary fleets on planets not being able to attack. They might have been going 0.2 at the time you lost the planet and were both in Attack disposition. It's not even a remotely similar situation to what I was asking about. That question ultimately pertains to a completely different attack that you will be experiencing in several turns and I am trying to get some specific knowledge about how fast those fleets should be traveling so I can be sure to wipe your whining butt off the planet in the minimum number of turns with the least exposure of my fleets.

So I suppose it *was* right to assume it was ultimately about you in some way, but not for any of the reasons you chose to wrongly extrapolate onto my question. But don't worry. In the future, I'll be sure to ask my questions in private lest you gain any knowledge that might be useful to you in your otherwise scrub style of gameplay.

Good Luck!

Thats the thing. My fleets are sitting on the planet... So not moving at all. They're set to planetary assault (so I'm assuming they slow down anyways when coming up to destination) but either way I find it weird that they can sit on it & not attack. It's happening on a few different planets.  I'm not getting any hits, but the planetary defenses are slowly chipping away at the fleets. It seems to be spreading to various areas. It's happening to 3 different accounts I'm attacking (and no they aren't all former accounts of JJ).

The one in the screenshots Masdus & Hierulf are attacking the other planets and it appears to be working fine... other planets that I've taken from the same accounts are working but others seem to be behaving oddly. They all seem to be capital planets that's what seems to be the only similarity.

Dave, I just wanted to let you know that it's started working fine now. It's finally showing it's under attack & I"m getting hits through now. Thanks!!
