Hello Davenport Greens!
I hope you all feel you have a part in the outcome of the new year; it's the sort of thing that keeps us going and social. It's what we can bring to the common table.
The Distributed Governance doc I'm posting about today is a response to the 56% vote at the November VGM in favour of suspending the Federal Council and the GPC Fund for not reporting as required. I hope you take in the messages below and deal creatively with the reactions it provokes.
My faith in Google Groups/discussions like this is unabated but Google has decided to discontinue this forum so this will likely be one of the last posts here.
Davenport is such a cool riding! I guess that's how people are supposed to feel about where they live. I look forward to collaborating with you.
love

As the new year fast approaches, I thank friends I made this year on the campaign trails (including Alejandra Bravo's here in Davenport). I acknowledge the sorrow and disillusionment felt by many during and after the Virtual General Meeting last month. I say let's try something better: please email me at greenpartycanada2 at gmail to receive your copy of gpc_distributed-governance_D1-5.pdf
To a better year

This month—Dec. 2021—I wrote a six-page document entitled Distributed Governance / A Green Model for Politics in Canada. Then I realized the doc could be the basis of a group and I eventually hit on the name EDA Freedom, which is pretty much what the doc's about—that and encouraging folks everywhere to take another look at the GPC.
But the Distributed Governance contents are for Party members, in that anyone else (and probably a lot of members too) wouldn't understand what I was talking about ("What's the Federal Council!?").
The thesis is that if we switch to a distributed governance model the goals of the party (principles) would find more play; neighbours would be attracted to the GPC because members would be more attractively engaged in the neighbourhood issues (as opposed to fund-raising and the campaign cycles); by a simple change to the Constitution, accountability of EDAs to the FC would be eliminated; The Fund and the FC would be able to listen and support instead of defend the fort.
Please email me at greenpartycanada2 at gmail com for your free copy of draft 1.5, gpc_distributed-governance.pdf.

As the new year approaches I look back in thanks to the good folks in the Party who've become more familiar to me this year. I think we're motivated by desire for action and I hope the idea of distributed governance gives you a lift.

Supporters of Green politics, called Greens (with a capital 'G'), share many ideas with the ecology, conservation, environmentalism, feminism, and peace movements. In addition to democracy and ecological issues, green politics is concerned with civil liberties, social justice, nonviolence, sometimes variants of localism and tends to support social progressivism. The party's platform is largely considered left in the political spectrum. (Wikipedia/"Green Politics")
