- first, how to register for the coming general meeting and for the new GPC platform for improving members' experience with the Party's policy development process
- second, how to find the proposed constitutional amendment for adding three Indigenous reps to the FC (so you can comment, follow and/or show that you support it)
- finally, a too-brief answer to the question "Why bother?'
Registration x 2
1. Virtual General Meeting part two
John Willson, co-President of the GPC Fund, has donated and set up greensconnect with the support of Dana Taylor/Interim Executive Director of the GPC.
- The platform is being used to facilitate the VGM proposal development process, in which any GPC member can turn an idea into official party policy!
- All of the motions and debates are visible to the internet, but only GPC members can post content.
- If you'd like an account on WeDecide, to post comments on proposed policies and motions, then please make sure you are a current member of the Green Party of Canada and email general...@greenparty.ca with Subject line: "WeDecide account request" and your registered email address.
G21-C003 Add Three Indigenous Representatives to Federal CouncilFinding this proposal is very easy:
- Log in to greensconnect.
- Enter "c003" in the Search field (at the top of the screen). The system opens a window with a link to the proposal.
Why bother?- As a GPC member, you want to be the best ally for Indigenous peoples that you can be.
- This proposal received only 61.8% support at VGM1 (Nov. 2021)—shy of the 2/3 support required to pass a constitutional amendment.
The proposal will be sent to workshop before a final plenary (everyone present) vote for or against. It is very high-profile among GPC Indigenous membership (e.g., in the Indigenous Peoples Advisory Circle AKA IPAC) and so failure to pass this proposal would be very bad news for the GPC.
Please take a few minutes to register and comment in
greensconnect—and a few minutes more to ask your GPC friends to do the same.
