My concern has been an increasing usage of icloud..from the given allotment, to the next level at $2.99 per month and now I’m on the $9.xx tier.  I would like to not have that expense and just save to my macmini drive or even another drive that can be used to just saved stuff.  But I went down to the $2.99 rate and now all my new folders have an exclamation mark with the word “error” after it.  How do I just get my normal folders back without the error issues.
I know icloud just stopped saving but why are my new folders showing a fault?
Any suggestions welcome, I just don’t need an extra 9 or 10 bucks flying out the door every month…it gets to be too much.
Also what stuff is necessary to have to “save” in icloud?  Maybe Photos, mail, messages were too much.  What do you all save in icloud?  Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I'm no help. I do not use iCloud and only save and backup locally... May be stupid but that's what I do...

Actually I think I would prefer to do it the way you do Phil.  It really hasn’t cost you a cent to do it that way.  I don’t want to think about what I’ve spent with the icloud.  To get back to saving everything that’s already there in the cloud how do I “regress” so to speak and download everything that has been archived there?  I have several older macminis that I can use as a save dump should I need the space.  What would be my steps to get that done?
