A few years back, the Sherlock application (logo of a little grey
detective hat with a magnifying glass over it at the bottom of the
screen in the dock) really ROCKED! I used it to find local movies,
see trailers, look up words, etc.

Now when I open Sherlock, there is NOTHING. For movies, e-bay,
stocks, dictionary, anything.

Is Sherlock DEAD?? And to what do we owe his untimely demise?

Apparently it was costing Apple money to utilize those links, that
they don't want to spend anymore?

I believe Sherlock met an end at the hands of Moriarity. Dr. Watson retired an left for his estate in Switzerland.

Sherlock may be dead depending on your OS level.

As of 10.5, you should not be running it.

It was basically replaced by Spotlight and Dashboard starting with 10.4.

My Mac Mini had 10.4 already installed when I got it, and the
Sherlock icon was also pre-installed. I've since done all the
upgrades to 10.4.11, and I'd think if it was "dead" one of those
updates would have removed it, no?

Too bad. I liked ol' Sherlock. May he rest in peace. (BTW, the
internet search part still works but that's about it)

Macparson gave him last rites in the name of Cuppertino, DAUG and the
Mac Spirit. Amen. (I loved him, too! - Bob)
