Happy new year to everybody! Hope you’re not freezing to death in
this cold. I’ve been having trouble maintaining my internet
connection the past few days. The only thing I did different was to
upgrade Firefox, but I mostly use Safari. Periodically, the internet
connection just disappears. I have to do the connection bit, and then
unplug the modem, turn off the computer, unplug the airport, wait 30
seconds, and turn everything back on. It’s happening 3 or 4 times a
day now. The last time, I got this message that says:
IP Configuration: 10.0.1.2 in use by 00:23:12:1c:5b:95, DHCP Server
10.0.1.1

And I’m constantly being asked for my email account password in order
to send messages out. What do you suppose the problem is?

I have sbcglobal.net as my server, and have not messed with any of
that stuff in a long time.
Thanks -
MaryBart

It sounds like a problem with SBC. Give them a call.

I had a similar problem and solved by getting a new Internet modem. My
apple extreme was okay but the Internet modem from Comcast had become
defective.
