The film tells the story of Karan Khanna (Abhishek Bachchan), an orphan and a captain in the Rajputana Armed Forces, who falls in love with Nisha (Sonali Bendre), a beautiful model. However, he has to leave her to go on a mission. On his way, he rescues Sahiba Grewal (Aishwarya Rai), a young woman who is running away from her family to escape an arranged marriage. He decides to help her by pretending to be her husband and meeting her family. However, he soon finds himself falling for her and facing the wrath of her family and her fiancé Vicky (Salman Khan).

The film was directed by Raj Kanwar and produced by his brother K. Pappu. The music was composed by Jatin-Lalit, with lyrics by Sameer.
