FL3 auto notch question

Hi, 

Just got an FL3 which seems to work but the auto notch introduces a low/mid scooped tone when engaged and also I hear it sweeping in SSB mode. Does not seem right. Can anyone confirm if this is normal FL3 behavior? Mine is a serial number in the 6 to 7k range.
