This Sunday Club racing (it's the Datchet Flyer)

Hi All,

 

Due to some late changes in the ‘Datchet Summer Flyer’ mainly due to the fact that there is no wind forecast for Saturday we are going to run 4 single start races on Sunday that will be part of the Sailjuice Summer Lakes Series.

 

What does this mean to you? Well it means that you will have a single start slightly earlier than your normal start unless you are a ff15 who normally start first and there will be 4 races rather than just 2. Also importantly you do need to register, see the link below and it will cost you £5 but that is so that you can enter the draw for the camera mentioned below. The other reason for registration is that we are going to be using GPS trackers for the event and we need to set up the GPS beforehand so we need to know who is sailing. Although the £5 is extra 100% of it will go into the fund for developing the classes within the club. Many of you may be aware we have recently bought some Wayfarers for the club and are looking to update and expand much of the available fleets that we have at DWSC.

Just to be clear the Datchet Flyer will only be sailed on Sunday this weekend there is no racing on Saturday.

GPS tracking is great for training too !

We often do post race analysis after the RTIR and select some of our close competitors and assess :

• the 5 or so legs, to The Needles, St Caths, etc
• inshore vs offshore
  
• short vs long tack
  
• inside the fort or outside
• etc
  

Pretty useful tool I feel !

Would be great for the Junior & Youth in the 20Kt de-briefing sessions.
