Hello,

The club racing page on the web site mention specific fleets: RS
500’s, RS 200’s, 49er’s, RS 700’s. With link to fleet pages.

Just for the record, I think the F16 fleet is actually larger than any
of those, and the Laser fleet is even larger than that. I feel this
page is heavily biased toward monohulls and then toward RS boats.

A mention of the F16 fleet with a link to the class website <http://
formula16.org> would be appreciated. For the record Datchet has the
largest fleet of F16 in Europe, and the UK class chairman, Paul
Warren, is a Datchet member.

Eric,

Thanks for your comments. If you can compose some words and provide me
with a picture of an F16 at Datchet I will happily put a page
together. I have been asking various cat sailors at the club for
something to put on the website for some time but have had no response
so far. Whether this is a general CAT page or a more specific F16
page is really up to you to decide rather than this biased RS500
sailor.

I make no apologies for emphasising those specific classes on the
website. It is now club policy to encourage the growth of one design
fleets at Datchet. This is the only way I can see of getting
substantial numbers of boats out for club racing. The sailing
committee has identified some classes that have the potential to grow
into fleets and these are those listed on the Club Racing page. This
selection was done mainly by looking at the numbers of boats of each
class currently out racing, although account was also taken of who was
prepared to take on the role of Fleet Captain.

We had no represetative of any of the CAT classes at the meeting where
this was discussed, even though a number of people were invited. I
would be interested to know whether CAT sailors would like to
encourage particular classes at the club or whether they just want to
carry on with the current CAT fleet status.

I think a all encompassing cat fleet is the way to go for the cats.

"Datchet Water Sailing club is also home to a very active and varied catamaran fleet. Datchet is the home to the largest fleet of Formula16 catamaran in Europe, but is not limited to this single class. From the Formula 16 to the Dart 18, from the Hobie 16 to the Tornado, with a sprinkling of Nacra 20 or Hurricane 5.9 a range of cats are competing in club races. Trimarans like the Weta and the Astus are also active at the club."

F16@datchet Pic attached.

The Stealthmarine promo video was also shot at Datchet: <http://www.formula16.net/videos/Stealth_F16_promo_video_01.wmv>, and probably worth a link.
