Transitioning from Handles to DOIs during migration

Hi folks,

I have completed a couple of successful test migrations and am now ready to take things to the next level. In our DVN 3.6.3 test and production instances, we used a fake Handle prefix ("TEST") and added DOIs to every study using Other ID=<doi> and Other ID Agency="DOI", where <doi> is the actual DOI associated with a given study.

I am wondering if it is possible to transform the exported versions from DVN 3.6.3 such that when I import them into Dataverse 4.x, all traces of those old fake handles are gone forever.

Is such a thing possible? If so, what changes would I need to make to the exported files and how would I need to rename files/directories and update DB tables?

Hi Tim,

I'm sorry I must have missed this post, are you all set or still looking for information? We supported DOIs in v3.6.2 through EZID so I think your idea should work fine. I can check on what needs to change -I think import creates the datasets from scratch so maybe only need to modify the exported xml.

Thanks for circling back to this and I appreciate the feedback.

Due to some organizational changes, we are unfortunately deferring our upgrade to DV 4. I'll come back to this thread if we decide to move forward with DV 4 in the future.
