Dear GDCC Member Organizations,

We are writing to provide an update on the 2025 GDCC Steering Committee election process. The nomination period has concluded, and we are pleased to announce that the number of valid nominations received matches the number of available positions (five).

The following individuals have been nominated as members of the GDCC Steering Committee for the 2025–2026 term:

  • Dieuwertje Bloemen, KU Leuven

  • Philipp Conzett, DataverseNO

  • Stefano M. Iacus, Harvard University

  • Amber Leahey, Scholars Portal / Borealis

  • Dimitri Szabo, INRAE

More information about the nominees is available on our nominations overview page.

In addition, the 2025-2026 Steering Committee is expected to include Jon Crabtree, University of North Carolina (Ex Officio, Treasurer) to enable continuation of GDCC contracting via UNC beyond the election.

To ensure transparency and allow all GDCC Member Organizations to formally participate in the election process, we will proceed with an online voting process. The voting form will offer the following options:

  • Vote For All Nominees (recommended by the current Steering Committee)

  • Vote For or Against individual candidates

We encourage all GDCC Member Organizations to participate in this important process.

Updated Voting Period

To align with the upcoming Dataverse Community Meeting, the current Steering Committee has decided to move the voting period forward. The new voting period is: May 30 – June 9, 2025.

This adjustment allows us to officially announce the new Steering Committee at the Dataverse Community Meeting on June 10, 2025.

Next Steps

On May 30, all GDCC Member Organizations will receive an email containing:

  • A link to the online voting form

Dear GDCC Community,

We are pleased to announce the results of the 2025 GDCC Steering Committee election. A total of 12 votes were cast, all in favor of For All Nominees, and no votes were submitted for or against individual candidates.

This result was shared during the GDCC Membership session at the Dataverse Community Meeting last week. The newly elected Steering Committee will convene as soon as possible to assign roles, including Chair and Vice-Chair, and begin their work in guiding the GDCC forward.

We acknowledge the relatively low number of votes cast in this election and recognize the need to strengthen engagement within the community. The new Steering Committee is committed to addressing this challenge by better communicating the added value of GDCC and working to increase participation and involvement across the consortium.

We thank all member organizations for their participation in the election process and for their continued support of the GDCC.

Best regards,
Philipp Conzett
Chair of the outgoing GDCC Steering Committee
