what Metrics API returns

I may be overthinking this so sorry in advance.  For the Metrics API (https://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/api/metrics.html)

Monthly - a time series of the metric with aggregate values per month with counts up to and including the given month:

• Form: GET https://$SERVER/api/info/metrics/$type/monthly

• where $type can be set, for example, to dataverses (Dataverse collections), datasets, files, downloads or accounts.

Obviously downloads are downloads but for datasets and files, is the number created returned or is that the number of files or datasets downloaded?

are all about the # of published items in the repository. Only the /downloads, /filedownloads, /unique*, and some MDC calls are about downloads.

It'd be great to add it in the documentation to make it explicit though @Jamie could you create an issue for this if not done so it doesn't get lost :) ?
