New Feature: Browse Featured Dataverses in 4.0 Beta

Important Announcement: Database Drop Needed For Next Round of New Features
As previously mentioned on our Data Science blog and our Dataverse 4.0 Beta instance, since Beta is only a testing / sandbox environment please note that our next round of feature additions (hint: it relates to metadata and will arrive around mid-August) will require us to drop the database, which will in effect remove most of the dataverses, datasets, and files that are currently in Beta. To upload real data and receive a formal data citation, please use our production Dataverse website:thedata.harvard.edu. Also, only datasets that have no restrictions and are non-identifiable data can be uploaded to Beta.

Now that we've gotten the housekeeping stuff out of the way, allow us to introduce you to our newest feature in Beta…

New "Featured Dataverses" now available in Dataverse 4.0 Beta!

As seen on the animated gif above, you will now be able to visually browse Featured Dataverses on the Dataverse 4.0 Beta homepage by clicking on the arrows or a click and drag gesture with your mouse on a dataverse.

This can also be setup by any administrator of a dataverse that has multiple dataverses within it (note: you need to have at least one published dataverse within your main dataverse for this feature to work).  To setup (see also animated gif below): go to a dataverse that you are an administrator for, then click on the "Edit Dataverse" where you will select "Browsing Options" from the dropdown list. Once in "Browsing Options" you can enable this feature (checkbox) and then select which dataverses you want featured on your main dataverse page. Once this is enabled, on your main dataverse page under Featured Dataverses you will see the names of the selected dataverses with the default Dataverse icon. You can always go back later to add, remove or re-order your Featured Dataverses.
