time fields in custom metadata

Similar to my recent question about booleans, I'm wondering about supporting time metadata. I see that Dataverse supports date fields with YYYY-MM-DD, YYYY-MM, or YYYY. I would have expected support for date and time fields with year, month, day, hour, minute, second in iso8601. Is this a feature that has been discussed? Is there a chance it will be added? Are people just using text fields as a workaround?

Hi Aaron,

As you said, one can set "fieldType" to "date" for a metadata field but not something like "timestamp". I just took a look through https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues and I don't see anyone asking for this yet so please feel free to add a new issue.

p.s. There are a few system-generated fields like "created time" and "published time" that are timestamps. This "Date Range Search Example" uses timestamps: https://guides.dataverse.org/en/5.5/api/search.html#date-range-search-example
