Is it possible to do the anti-virus scanning in the file upload process?

Hi everyone,

For the files upload process, when the user clicks the save button, the files will be moved to the storage folder from the temp folder. Is there any way to scan the files with the anti-virus software before moving them to the storage folder now? Thank you.

Hi Joe,

Dataverse doesn't do any scanning of files for viruses. I agree that on upload would be the ideal time to check.

You certainly aren't the first to ask about this. I would suggest reading https://groups.google.com/g/dataverse-community/c/diQ_Q__tYos/m/gJh766UVBgAJ and commenting on https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/4388 ("virus-check all uploads"). You could also open a more specific issue.

You might be able to build a "PreDatasetPublish" workflow: https://guides.dataverse.org/en/5.7/developers/workflows.html
