Hi,
We want Altrimetrics support to add our Dataverse site,
https://opendata.uit.no to their whitelist of content domains. Our pages (like https://opendata.uit.no/dataset.xhtml?persistentId=doi:10.18710/V9D674) don't include in it the standard metadata tag where Altrimetrics code can look for it. So Altrimetrics won't be able to process those mentioned pages and add them to Altmetric details pages until the metadata of those pages are improved.

If you look at an item in our DSpace, Munin repository, e.g. http://munin.uit.no/handle/10037/9037, you will see the following line of HTML:
  <meta name="DC.identifier" content="10.1186/s13033-016-0048-8" />
(as well as a similar one for the URN).

Is it possible to add these types of metadata tags to our Dataverse repository, too? i.e. to add:
  <meta name="DC.identifier" content="10.18710/V9D674" />
 to that Dataverse example above?

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Obi

Hi Obi,

We've looked into adding Altmetrics support (github issue) and adding metatags for datasets (another issue). I'm glad UiT is also interested in this. The work hasn't been prioritized, yet, but it's really helpful that we know who else in the community wants this.

You mentioned that dataset landing pages in the Munin repository have one of the meta tags Altmetrics looks for. Are you tracking Altmetrics now for Munin or is that in the works, too? I'm curious how other groups have been using these types of metrics.

Thanks!

Hi Obi,

Adding dc.identifier to dataset html is in development (not slated for a particular release, so we're not sure when it'll go live). Details are in this github issue. I'm really looking forward to seeing altmetrics in your installation!

Best,
Julian

Hi again. Just an update here. Work on adding dc.identifier to dataset html metadata (as well as a handful of other metadata) is done and slated for the next release. :)

Best,
Julian
