Show Dataverse server name by Native API

Hello,
I'm trying to get the name of the Dataverse server (e.g. Demo Dataverse) but this native API endpoint just returns the server alias (e.g. demo.dataverse.org).

Is there any way to show this information using the native API?

That’s actually the name of the root collection (aka dataverse) and https://demo.dataverse.org/api/dataverses/1 should let you get it’s name.

I see, so I can get the name using the :root value.

After a slack chat with Don – a more complete answer is that the InstallationName itself isn’t available via the native API. However, by default, it is set to the name of the root collection, so in most cases the /api/dataverses/:root call will work. If the  :InstallationName setting to change the default is set, there isn’t currently an API way to get that value except for the restricted admin api: /api/admin/settings/:InstallationName . (https://data.qdr.syr.edu is a good example where the Installation name is not the same as the root collection name.)

 

It would probably be useful to put in an issue and/or PR to make it available (perhaps as an extension of that /api/info/server endpoint).
