SSHOC DataverseEU team is working on the development of tool intended for the easy migration of DDI to Dataverse. We already have a working prototype that can be deployed with Docker on Kubernetes, you can find the source code here https://github.com/Dans-labs/ddi-converter-tool

The idea that differences between different DDI formats can be handled by the creation of various XSLT mappings. For example, for the latest DDI with study and variables levels we're able automatically to create dataset metadata and deposit files corresponding to the variable-level DDI metadata.

I'm wondering if Dataverse community can provide public DDI files to test our solution properly before the official release.

Hi Slava,

Here's a link where you can download thousands of DDI XML files.

Some files have more metadata than others. This one is pretty complete: 37259.xml

I'll look around for other examples.

Great, thanks, Sherry!

We'll use mapping created by CESSDA community some time ago to see if we can get all stuff imported properly:

Cheers,
Slava

Hi Sherry,

Thanks for the link.

A question: is 37259.xml right? Can not find it inside the abstracts tarball, linked on the website.

Regards, Stefan

We've just moved this tool to the new repository and ready for testing https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse-ddi-converter-tool

Please let me know if someone wants to help us with the creation of missing XSLT mappings.

Cheers,
Slava
