Dear Team,

We are currently using Dataverse 6.5 and have uploaded several datasets and files. However, we are encountering a 404 error when attempting to download files in RData format. The Rserve services are running without issues, but we still receive an error message during the download process. I have attached a screenshot for your reference. Thank you in advance for your assistance with this issue.

{"status":"ERROR","code":404,"message":"datafile access error: requested optional service (image scaling, format conversion, etc.) could not be performed on this datafile."}

Hello,

Please trigger the error, then look in your Payara log file (likely /usr/local/payara6/glassfish/domains/domain1/logs/server.log) — you should find a more helpful error message there.

Thank you,
Don

Hi Mansoor,

We saw the same error in our Dataverse instance. My conclusion was that is the error is shown because we are missing a configuration for it.

Best wishes,
Laura

Dear Don Sizemore,

Thank you for getting back to me. I have checked the log, and it shows an autherization error. Then, I have set up an authentication for rserve using an alias password and configured the same in the reserve config file. Also, tried after disabling the authentication. The Rserve is working fine.  However, this error is still occurring. RData is not downloading.

Dear Laura,

Thank you for getting back to me. Does RData work for you now, or are you still getting the same error?  Please let me know the steps if you have resolved the issue. If you don't mind.

Regards

Mansoor Koormath

Hello,

Did you restart Payara after adding the Rserve jvm-options? The error above says that Dataverse is unable to login to Rserve.

Thank you,
Don

Dear Don Sizemore and Laura,

Thank you for your responses. I have resolved this issue. These issues were due to the absence of some of the packages, such as install.packages("stringi"), install.packages("stringr"), install.packages("haven"). It was not installed automatically. I have installed them manually. Now I am able to download the RData. It is working fine now. Thank you once again for your assistance.

Regards
