Hi all!

The Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration today (2021-03-21) officially announced it will be funding project HERMES, which is an acronym for “Helmholtz Rich Metadata Software Publication”. This project is a collaboration of FZJ, DLR and HZDR in Germany.

The goal of the project is automating software publications via CI tooling and enrich the publication with metadata from sources like Citation File Format, codemeta.json and many more. The results and tools will be shared with the research community to be reusable and hopefully sustainable.

Part of the work packages is also working for the Software, Workflow and Container Metadata Working Group to enable the Dataverse project to be more usable for such publications. We will align efforts with GDCC, IQSS, DANS, INRAE, Uni Stuttgart and others.

In case of any questions or being curious about more details, feel free to reach out on IRC/Slack/here/Mail/Matrix/Github/...

Best,
Oliver
