Will the GeoJSON previewer shown at the last community call be available soon? I didn't see it listed on <https://github.com/GlobalDataverseCommunityConsortium/dataverse-previewers>.

UCLA Dataverse is working with geospatial data and I'd love to be able to add this.

Thank you,

Jamie,

It is available, but only at https://github.com/gdcc/dataverse-previewers - the repository you list below (with the full GlobalDataverseCommunityConsortium) is obsolete – we’ve only kept it up out of concern that some people may still be using the old previewers from it. Everyone who is using previewers without running them locally should be using the ones at the gdcc repository.

Would archiving the old repo be an option? That keeps it available but displays a clear Archived label at the top.

I’m not sure – if archiving turns off the github.io site for it that would be bad (i.e. the previewers would stop working at any site using them).

I do have a PR (https://github.com/GlobalDataverseCommunityConsortium/dataverse-previewers/pull/69) to add a banner in the readme to redirect people – I can merge that as soon as someone reviews/approves it.

We also need to look through the guides to replace the URL(s) for the previewers – we just noticed during the community call  that those are out of date.

Apologies.  Link the current documentation (<https://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/admin/external-tools.html?highlight=external%20tools>) still points to the older site.   I'm bookmarking the correct one.

I have the GoeJSON previewer installed now and it's great.  The geojson files I create in ArcGIS Pro display perfectly but the ones from QGIS don't.  They actually look different when I open and look at the code.  Trying to get that sorted out but the previewer itself is a wonderful addition.

Hi Jamie, I noticed that the GeoJSON file viewer is currently not functioning. Is there a specific reason for this? Has there been an issue with the viewer on your end?

First of all, thank you for your previous guidance; we were able to successfully load the viewer thanks to your clarification.

We are currently facing an issue where the repository does not recognize .geojson as a valid extension. Whenever we upload a file, it is automatically detected as application/octet-stream. It is worth noting that we have already properly configured the three files that Dataverse uses to identify and name a MIME type:

- MimeTypeId.properties,
- MimeTypeDetectionByFileExtension.properties
- MimeTypeDisplayLabels.properties

But the issue persists. Have you encountered a similar problem before, or are you aware of any related cases that could give us a hint on where to start troubleshooting?

Thank you in advance for your time and any assistance you can provide.
