Hi,

I remember Scholars Portal and/or Portage posting their recommendations for using Dataverse Metadata fields a while back but can't find them -- can anyone point me to that document?

Thanks!
Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

This is not specifically what you asked for, but FYI -- Texas Digital Library's Texas Data Repository posted our metadata guidelines here: https://texasdigitallibrary.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/TDRUD/pages/493551668/Metadata+Dictionary

Hi everyone,

The Dataverse North Working Group is pleased to release the Metadata Best Practices Guide for Dataverse 4.x, written by our wonderful metadata experts under the leadership of Sally Taylor (UBC) and Alexandra Cooper (Queen’s). The guide can be found on the Portage website in both official languages.

The French guide is here: https://portagenetwork.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/DVN-Metadata_FR.pdf

The English guide is here: https://portagenetwork.ca/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/DVN-Metadata_EN.pdf

The first version of this guide provides overall guidance on the Dataverse v4.x citation metadata section. The guide seeks to:

·         Provide definitions and offers tips to clarify where needed.

·         Distinguish between required, recommended and optional fields. Please note: required and some recommended fields were determined by considering what is required by the Dataverse system and the DataCite metadata standard.

·         Illustrate the use of each field with an example. The sample dataset can also be found on the Dataverse platform at: https://doi.org/10.5072/FK2/TOXB6Q

Please feel free to share with colleagues. The Dataverse North Working Group is always interested in feedback that can help us to improve our training material.

Thanks,

Lisa

Thanks both -- Julian, exactly what I was looking for, Courtney -- didn't even know this existed, so very useful to have.
