Notes
* #dataverse2018 proposals
* The proposal form is now open. A deadline will be posted.
*
https://projects.iq.harvard.edu/dcm2018* Release Updates
* Expect a 4.9 release with
* file persistent identifiers:
https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/2438 * ability to upload provenance for files:
https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/4343 * W3C standard:
https://www.w3.org/Submission/prov-json/ * (Slava) Is it compatible with PROV-O standard
https://www.w3.org/TR/prov-o/ ?
* "provenance information represented in PROV-JSON can be converted from and to its counterparts PROV-N (the Provenance Notation used by PROV-DM [PROV-N]), PROV-O (The PROV Ontology [PROV-O]), and PROV-XML (The PROV XML Schema [PROV-XML])" -- PROV-JSON spec
* (Slava) Example of provenance information from PARTHENOS project (EU)
https://docs.google.com/document/d/e/2PACX-1vRl4jjVL2gx8iAYo07Og_CxhR7YpgqFHe8SHTIa-vXCfjHaA4tM4YpJD-q2WUMIVlGJwnzvh6M_66JL/pub * Related ICPSR project (potential for reuse of metadata from SPSS, STATA, SAS)
https://www.icpsr.umich.edu/icpsrweb/content/about/continuous-capture.html * Community Questions
* (Sebastian) QDR is in public beta, may switch to Dataverse this week. Includes integration with Drupal instance as an Identity Provider (IdP).
*
https://data.beta.qdr.org/ check it out!
* (Sebastian) Excited about
schema.org JSON-LD but is it only downloadable? We expect it to be embedded on the page.
* (Julian) It should be in the HTML itself as well. [CONFIRMED - gpd]
* (Phil) You can see it with the "OpenLink Structured Data Sniffer" addon for Firefox (dog icon):
http://osds.openlinksw.com * Apologies -- seeing it on the data landing pages, just not file landing pages, where it’s prob not needed (SK)
* (Amber) What is the status with Google Scholar?
* (Amber) Upcoming plans with Artefactual and Archivematica. Working on steps to get a final release ready.
* (Amber) CoreTrust Seal consortium
* Topic for next community call (4/10)
* (Slava) I was in Berlin last week and presented on DataverseEU in CESSDA PIDs event:
https://www.slideshare.net/vty/persistent-identifiers-in-dataverseeu-project * Several other countries are in planning (Greece, Czech Republic, Portugal)
* (Sherry) Our Open Repositories proposal was accepted
*
https://www.conftool.net/or2018/index.php?page=browseSessions&form_session=323 * (Pete) You can now install the Data Capture Module as an RPM
* (Amber) With the Data Capture Module, where is the data stored?
* (Pete) At HMS, we have a local network storage device. One is temporary. One has a shared filesystem with Dataverse. Doesn't work with S3.
* (Slava) Interested in Data Explorer.
* (Danny) In the next release of Dataverse, you'll be able to add external tools like Data Explorer.
* (Slava) Question about PIDs for every file. Some people we've talked to think it should be optional.
* (Danny) It's not optional. It's a recommendation, a best practice from data citation principles.
