I don't usually put the weekly Containerization Working Group meetings on DataverseTV but I'm making an exception for yesterday's meeting because it was so interesting.

Guido Schmutz joined us to present and demo his tool Platys, which takes its name from the kind of fish you put in an aquarium you're just starting. It's a platform for playing around with different tools in our data-centric space, and he recently added Dataverse to the pool!

If any old-timers like me remember, it's sort of like NDS Labs Workbench* from Craig Willis, but instead of Kubernetes, it uses Docker Compose. Back then, and even now, I would sometimes dream of a way to spin up Dataverse alongside other services, maybe JupyterHub, Archivematica, Renku, and other systems we integrate with, to demonstrate how they could work together. Maybe Platys could help here. Possibly, it's also a bit like Slava's "archive in a box"**, which integrates with third party services.

Currently the Platys demo is at the top of https://dataverse.org/dataversetv but here are direct links:

Oh, we're also discussing in #containers on Zulip, if you'd like to join: https://dataverse.zulipchat.com/#narrow/stream/379673-dev/topic/Platys.20App.20Stack/near/395693919

Thanks,

Phil
