Hi all,
Zenodo offers an interesting feature that allows direct file download links including the filename in the URL, for example:
https://zenodo.org/records/17926568/files/Batteries%20as%20Networked%20Fractal%20Energy%20Systems.pdf?download=1

Is there a way to achieve something similar in Dataverse?

From what I can see in the Dataverse documentation, the current file download path is only based on the file PID:
https://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/api/dataaccess.html#basic-file-access

Do you think this could be a useful enhancement to propose as a feature request, or has such an idea already been discussed and rejected for some reason?

Thanks,
Alfredo

Hi Alfredo,

From a quick test, if the file is not on S3, you can add -J or --remote-header-name to curl to download the file with the proper filename. This passes the "Content-Disposition" header to Dataverse. I'm not sure why it isn't working for me for files on S3.

That said, rather than dealing with headers, it sounds like you'd rather have something in the URL. Please feel free to create an issue about this!

Thanks,

Phil
