metrics api vs metrics in home page

Hi all,

I'm having trouble with tracking downloads on a site using DV. If I look at the widget on the homepage, I see, for example, 377,125 downloads. However, if I query the API:

/api/info/metrics/downloads

I get: 378,204.

This is a significant discrepancy.

It seems the homepage widget isn't showing real-time data. Is this possible?

Yes, it is an approximation that is much faster to calculate. See #8840 and #8972 for details and how it can be improved.
