The FAIR-IMPACT project has recently announced their final call for participation in support actions to improve the FAIRness of services and tool.

Several organizations using Dataverse have participated in previous FAIR-IMPACT support actions. For example KU Leuven participated in the support action about RO Crate (see their presentation at the Dataverse October Community Call (notes, slides, recording), and UiT The Arctic University participated in the support action Recommendations for trustworthy and FAIR-enabling data repositories.

I think also the planned support actions are highly relevant for organizations using Dataverse. Applicants must reside and/or work in an EU or Associated Country for the duration of the grant. For more information, see the call.

Best,
Philipp

Hi Philipp,

We bilaterally discussed this before, but Dataverse being able to export DCAT metadata might suit this FAIR-IMPACT call?

A lot of the Health Data related platforms in especially Europe, like the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and the national Health Data Access Bodies that are being established in the EU member states, are based on DCAT and sooner or later we will have to hook up to these platforms (means Dataverses holding health/medical but also social science data). Our National Health Data Catalogue in NL will also use DCAT, so at DANS we are already delving into this topic.
The EHDS is a pilot in Europe if it comes to the technology, but more European Data Spaces might be established in other scientific domains, also based on DCAT. If we have a sufficient body of interested (EU based) Dataverse users, it might be worth to give it a try.

Yours,

Cees

I don't have much to add except that Sonia sent a message a few months back asking if there's interest in DCAT: https://groups.google.com/g/dataverse-community/c/KP9DPlOk3Po/m/wvAB1hIHBAAJ

Hi Cees, all,

I agree, we should get DCAT support on the roadmap. Not quite sure how it fits into the FAIR-IMPACT call, but maybe others have some ideas.
Maybe we could discuss whether/how European Dataverse installations collectively could sponsor the implementation of DCAT support in Dataverse?

Best,
Philipp
