Hi everyone,

The metadata of published datasets in most of the known Dataverse repositories is published at https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/8FEGUV. Lots of other goodies in there, too. All collected a few weeks ago (late August 2023).

Previous versions of the dataset, which are at https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/DCDKZQ, have been used to inform discussions in the Dataverse community about file PID registration, the growth of datasets over time, how data is embargoed and otherwise restricted, use of licenses and other terms of use and access, how certain geospatial metadata fields are used and more.

Feel free to reach out with any quesitons.

Thanks!
Julian

Thanks, Julian!

I wonder if you could present (some of) your results on the next community call?

Best,
Philipp

Sure! So I'd talk about the files in the dataset and how it was collected. Is that the idea?

Thanks. Yes, and maybe outline some main finding / what you think are the most interesting findings?

That's the community call on the Oct 16 and 17 then, right? That sounds good to me. Doesn't look like anything is planned for those dates so far 👍

Great, thanks! I'm not sure about the date; it's not published yet on https://dataverse.org/community-calls. Also, I guess we need a go-a-head from Phil :-)

Ah okay. The notes for the last meeting say the next meeting is on October 16. But looks like there's interest in having these calls only when there are things to discuss instead of having them on a regular schedule.

Phil (D), would there be time on Oct 16 for me to talk about this resource? And I guess the other question is, is there enough interest? Or maybe I should try to generate interest and propose another date?

Phil Durbin and I Slacked and that cleared things up for me. I volunteered to host the meeting in October and talk about this resource. I'll announce this in another thread sometime this week.

The call is usually on Tuesdays, so I guess the date would be October 17.

Hi everyone,

An updated version of this dataset, "Dataset metadata of known Dataverse installations, August 2024", is published at https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/2SA6SN. All collected last week (late August 2024).

Previous versions of this dataset, which are at https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/DCDKZQ and https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/8FEGUV, have been used to inform discussions in the Dataverse community about file PID registration, the growth of datasets over time, how data is embargoed and otherwise restricted, use of licenses and other terms of use and access, how certain geospatial metadata fields are used, and more. I talked about this dataset a bit during a Dataverse community call in October 2023. DataverseTV has the slides and a video recording of the community call.

Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Thanks!

Hi everyone,

A new dataset containing the dataset metadata of known Dataverse installations is published today at https://doi.org/10.7910/DVN/RMAGSH.

Similar datasets published in previous years, listed in the collection at https://dataverse.harvard.edu/dataverse/dataverse-ux-research-dataverse, have been used to inform discussions in the Dataverse community about file PID registration, the growth of datasets over time, how data is embargoed and otherwise restricted, use of licenses and other terms of use and access, how certain geospatial metadata fields are used, and more. I talked about these datasets a bit during a Dataverse community call in October 2023. See the slides and a video recording of the community call.
