Temp folder in Dataverse installation (v5.10.1)

Hi everyone,

We are checking the storage for our Dataverse instance and found that there is a temp directory storing the files with storage identifier assigned.

We wonder if there is a temp file to temporarily store the files for dataset uploading, or, if it serves any purpose that requires it. 

Is there any documentation regard this "temp" folder mechanism?

Unfortunately, this issue about how we should write more documentation about temp folders used by Dataverse is 10 years old: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/2848

I'm somewhat unclear on them myself. If anyone wants to help write some docs, I'm happy to help with any formatting or whatever!
