Is there a way to make a field searchable, but keep it from showing up in the left hand side facet list?

The display of facets is configurable per dataverse collection.  I assume (??) all fields are searchable - which is not configurable?

Here's a screenshot of configuration for facets:

Sherry's right that facets from metadata blocks can be enabled or disabled. (There are some hard coded facets such as at the file level and dataverse collection level that cannot be disabled.) Here are the docs on this: https://guides.dataverse.org/en/5.9/user/dataverse-management.html#general-information

I hope this helps,

Phil

p.s. Technically, you can make fields unsearchable with indexed=false.

In addition to being configurable at the Dataverse collection level in that "Browse/Search Facets" menu Sherry showed, you can add or remove fields from the menu by editing the TSV files of the metadatablocks that contain those fields. More info is in the guides at https://guides.dataverse.org/en/latest/admin/metadatacustomization.html. The "property"/column in each TSV file is called "facetable."

The special "Previous Persistent ID" field is the only field I know of that isn't searchable (https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/6445). Aaron, are there fields you wouldn't want to be searchable?
