Hi everyone,

ICPSR is surveying repositories to learn how they can improve how repositories get the metadata of its datasets. The survey is at https://umich.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_3fN70KNbCJ6iuuG. From the ICPSR archivist distributing the survey:

"The survey should take around 5-10 minutes to complete and we are asking participants to submit their responses by May 31, 2022. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at shallcro[at]umich.edu."

This is related to the grant-related work that IQSS has started for improving the Dataverse software's harvesting capabilities (see https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/issues/8574). So if you plan to submit the survey for your repository, I think it will help if you can share your answers with the Dataverse community, since how and why you'd like to retrieve the metadata of ICPSR datasets might influence plans to improve the Dataverse software's harvesting capabilities, and those plans might influence how we answer the surveys questions.

In a Google Doc, I've started answering some of the questions for the Harvard Dataverse Repository, and I'm sharing the doc here so that interested community members can talk about some of the questions and see how one of the Dataverse repositories plans to answer them.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks!
Julian
