What is the current status about Using dataverse on windows?

Dear all,

Now I have a need to install dataverse v6.0 on windows. After reading some posts in ths community, I am still wondering:

1. Is WSL Linux possible to run dataverse like what I had done in the server?

2. Is windows-docker possible to run any version of dataverse?

If anyone has the latest update, please let me know.

Hi Yue,

You're in luck. Recently at least three developers who use Windows have confirmed that they've been able to do Dataverse development, leading to this pull request, which will be included in Dataverse 6.7: https://github.com/IQSS/dataverse/pull/11583

Yes, WSL is recommended.

Yes, Docker is recommended.

I'm not sure what to say about Dataverse 6.0 specifically... If you switch to the v6.0 tag you might be able to build the base image followed by the application image. Please feel free to ask in #containers at https://dataverse.zulipchat.com if you have trouble.
