Dear Dataverse-Community,

Recently, we have increasingly observed that the publish process is being canceled for new datasets. The reason is always a connection timeout in the connection to Datacite. Is this only happening to us?

Good question. I'm not sure. If it helps, https://status.datacite.org is showing "all systems operational" with the last incident three days ago.

Hi Phil,

Thank you. I know this site. But in the past, when we had problems with other services with DOI registrations taking a long time, it also didn't show any errors. I suspect long runtimes are not recognized or tracked there.

We've had similar issues when trying to publish datasets with many files in DataverseNO, where we use DOIs at file-level. That's why we recommend not to have more than about 300 files in one dataset.

Best, Philipp
