Hi Phil,
I did a few Dataverse related talks in December:
- In the session of the Croissant for Machine Learning Working Group, the latest progress on the Semantic Croissant was showcased. The presentation highlighted advances in ontology alignment and the linkage of external controlled vocabularies with CDIF (Cross-Domain Interoperability Framework), demonstrating enhanced interoperability and semantic integration across domains.
- I have also showcased AI-powered assistant integrated directly into a Dataverse data repository, at the EDDI 2025 conference in Budapest, Hungary. It can connect to an AI pipeline where multiple AI models “chat” with each other, analysing column characteristics and distributions from any spreadsheet. Even when a dataset is published without metadata, the system already provides quite accurate predictions about CODATA CDIF variables, their relationships, and their units of measurement, with a “human in the loop” tool called Nectar Publisher to review, correct, and publish them back to Dataverse.
AI assistant for Dataverse will be fully available for the Dataverse community in early 2026.
Of course, even more AI stuff is coming soon: the sneak preview of the super experimental "Pale Fire" framework is already public: https://github.com/4tikhonov/palefire
