Hi all … another question from me!  We are talking about methods for integrating/indexing our Dataverse with our LSP (Alma/Primo) via harvesting/OAI. Wondering if anyone else has done/accomplished this and how, what configuration was necessary? Is there a specified mapping?

Hi Deirdre,

We get metadata from our Dataverse repository into our Primo instance through metadata harvesting from DataCite. Unfortunately, this didn't work when I ran some searches today, so I'll have to ask our LSP coordinator about what has gone wrong. But in principle, this is how we'd like research data to be made discoverable in Primo. I'll let you know when I've heard back from our LSP coordinator.

Best, Philipp

Hi Phil … thank you so much for your response! We are wondering if your LSP coordinator would share also if there is a reason for not using OAI for that integration? Is there a security or other consideration with grabbing that data using an API key that searches the published datasets? Thanks so much for any info.

Hi  Deirdre,

Sorry for my late reply. I guess Ex Libris is harvesting DataCite through OAI, but since metadata from our repository is available in DataCite, there is no need for us to make Ex Libris harvest our repository directly. Including DataCite as a metadata source make all datasets published with DOIs occur in our Primo instance.

For more information on how to enable harvesting from DataCite in the Ex Libris Central Discovery Index (CDI) (used e.g. in Primo), see this webpage: https://knowledge.exlibrisgroup.com/Primo/Content_Corner/Central_Discovery_Index/Documentation_and_Training.

Best,
Philipp

Hi,

we at AUSSDA mirrored our Dataverse Metadata to Primo via the Dataverse OAI-PMH Endpoint. Primo has a functionality for this. It worked fine, but one field needs/needed to be adjusted (I have not done it) . Another way to do it - with more freedom, but also more effort needed - is to use pyDataverse and get the data from the Dataverse API and transform it into whatever you need. But if there is a proper OAI-PMH interface, I would recommend taking that route.

Cheerz, Stefan
